Church marriage proposal

While working in Japan for three months I wrote a song of faith and hope. Some time after I had returned home I asked my girlfriend, Jonie, if she would be willing to learn and sing the song with me in front of our church. We sang a duet as I played the guitar and after finishing she thought we were done and started to leave the stage, but I started talking to the congregation saying, “You have all been such an amazing and important part of our lives and I just wanted to share this moment with you.” Jonie thought I was talking about the song, but then I turned to her, got down on my knee, and pulled out a ring saying, “You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love you and who I am when I’m with you. Would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?” The congregation gasped then fell silent. Jonie stood there in disbelief as tears started to roll down her cheeks. Finally, after what seemed an eternity, the pastor yelled out, “Say yes!” which, as she snapped back to reality, she did, hugging and kissing me.
