Marriage proposal with poetry

My future wife is not a get-down-on-your-knee kind of gal. She even told me that if I did propose to her on one knee, she’d say no. So I had to come up with something pretty unique.
There are 3 things precious to her. The first being her family, the second being her cottage and the third, her love for the outdoors. And I knew I had to incorporate all three if I was going to do this properly.
So I bought the ring, bought a beautiful hard cover poetry book and set about carving a square hole 3/4 of the way into the pages of the book so that the ring box sat perfectly hidden amongst the poems. I then wrote her a poem on the inside front cover of the book and then wrapped it up.
I planned the proposal for a long weekend in August up at her cottage knowing that many of her family would be around. It took a few tries but I eventually got her by herself on a walk and I took her to a beautiful spot in the forest, a little off the beaten road and sat her down on a moss covered, fallen tree. I then handed her the book and asked her read the poem on the inside cover. I then asked her to read a 2nd poem I had book-marked for her…which when she opened the book…saw the ring box! I guess I proposed properly because she said Yes and now we’re getting married next fall.
