The first time I ever saw her she was sitting in a coffee shop at my brother’s college 3 1/2 hours away from where I lived. My brother knew her and introduced me near the end of the night. As he and I were leaving I told him she was cute and he should be nice to her. Fast forward 14 months and I knew that she was the one for me. I picked out her ring myself so she had no idea it was coming. I drove the 3 1/2 hours on a Thursday afternoon; I had a dozen roses, 12 cards and a spool of twine. Her roommates were keeping her distracted while I set everything up. The first six roses were scattered around campus at all of the different places that were important to the development of our relationship. Each rose had a card with a poem that hinted to the next location. The last of the six led her to the coffee shop where we first met. The last 1/2 dozen roses were in a vase on a table and the card told her to order some tea for the both of us and imagine being on a date with her amazing boyfriend. What she couldn’t see was that I was hiding behind the counter, where I had been crouched for the last 40 minutes waiting for her to arrive. When the tea was ready, the man handed it to me and I carried it out to her. I set both cups on the table, got down on one knee, unfolded the napkins to expose the ring and then asked her to marry me. I had arranged for her closest friends and my brother to be waiting for us at her apartment when we got back. I also knew that she loves dessert pizza so I had three of them delivered. She got to spend time alone with me and then show off her ring and tell the story to all of her friends at the same time.

My now husband of 4 years had the best proposal idea. While living in Salt Lake City, Utah, he decided to take me out to dinner one night and I thought he was going to pop the question over dinner. We arrived at the restaurant and some of his friends were there to my disappointment. We had a great meal but of course I was more than a little disappointed. He drove me home from dinner and walked me to my door, kissed me goodnight and left. Feeling now, more than a little upset now, I walked into my bedroom and found a suitcase on my bed with a note telling me to pack my bags for California, that we would be leaving the next morning. He had asked my dad for my hand in marriage and set everything up with my work, he even planned some of it with my mom. We left for California and he proposed to me at Dana Point during the most beautiful sunset ever. We both cried and have been happy ever since.

My proposal was inexpensive but worked to perfection! I arrived home early to set everything up in time. When my girlfriend arrived home from work she was surprised to walk into a candlelit house and roses with a note. I sent her on a scavenger hunt around the house. Every room she entered had 3 beautiful roses with a letter telling her how much she meant to me. The final note sent her to the master bedroom. When she entered she found me with a dozen roses. I confessed my love to her and all the reasons she makes me feel like the luckiest man in the world. Then I dropped to one knee. She immediately started to tremble as I proposed to her. She accepted, making us the happiest couple in the whole world! We had our wedding at an awesome resort in the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee with spectacular views.

I was in labor for our daughter, lying in the hospital bed when my boyfriend brought in a stuffed bunny holding a balloon that said, “I love you” and a rose. I cried over the bunny and the balloon, and told him the rose was beautiful, not really paying attention to it. He told me to look closer at the rose, so I did, and noticed it had hinges. So I opened it and there was a beautiful diamond ring. It was already an emotional moment, with his family and my family there waiting for the baby to be born, so at that point we ALL cried! And I said yes, of course! Our daughter was born the next afternoon, and we were married nine months later!

My now husband, Nick is on the Cody fire department. It was during the fourth of July and our town has annual fourth of July parade. The fire fighters are always in it. I was sitting next to all of his family during the parade and when all the fire trucks came to our spot on main street Nick pulled me out all onto the street all the fire trucks stopped and Nick asked on bended knee if I would marry him!

My girlfriend and I often fed ducks. We also often took walks along the Provo River that meandered by my apartment. One rainy May day I asked my girlfriend to go feed some ducks with me (I had little hope of finding ducks in the downfall but both of us enjoy the rain). I grabbed a grocery bag I had bought that day that included bread and out of sight beneath the bread there was a bottle of sparkling apple cider. We walked beside the river until we came to a bridge that was “our spot” I got on one knee and pretended I was getting the bread out of the bag, but instead got out the cider and asked her to marry me (I was too poor at the time for an engagement ring). We drank apple cider. We fed ducks (we found some by the bridge even in the rain).
