Group Effort marriage proposal

The day of our six-month anniversary I had told her the house we lived in was having exterminators coming over  so we had to be out of the house all day.  The plan was movie and the dinner.

After the movie I blindfolded her to take her to the ‘restaurant” I’d made plans at.  We got in the car and she immediately tried to tell me she knew exactly where we were in town…she was very wrong. After driving around for about 20 minutes I made a phone call to “check” our reservations.  In reality I was calling my friend Laura.

While we were at the movie Laura and two other friends were decorating our house and cooking the meal for us.  My call to them was their cue to clear out.

I pulled up to the house, with Abby still blindfolded and helped her along the sidewalk.  When we were finally at the door I lifted the blindfold.  She opened the front door, looking oddly at me and gasped.  The house was transformed.

A path of chiffon, rose petals and candles led from the front door to the dining room which was decorated with three dozen more roses, two dozen gerbera daisies, candles and a cute little table for two with the salad course already set in gold-trimmed tableware. She   was overwhelmed.

On the wall I’d also gotten a hold of baby pictures of the both of us and had them hanging up side by side. We somehow got through dinner when I went to get the wine and to steel my courage.  When I came back I kneeled down next to her and asked.  The next thing I remember is being on my back with her jumping on top of me.  I do remember I had to clarify whether that meant yes, because we’d both mentioned marriage before but no specifics.  She laughed and said of course she said yes.

And we lived happily ever after.
