Valentine’s Roses Marriage Proposal Story

Happened Valentines day… I know too cliche right?  But first ever real date happened on that day.

Short background & filler: we dated 8 years before I proposed.  The final 2 yrs of which we lived together.

For my proposal, I did it a little different.  I got a bakers dozen of red roses & left 1 rose with instructions at different places, with different people & animals… so more like a treasure hunt.  My wife Carolyn, fiancée at the time had no idea what was in store for her on this day.  The first rose obviously was left at our apartment with instructions telling her what the game was about & where the next rose would be.  Left a rose at her sister’s house, at the coffee shop we had our first date, on our dogs collar, etc., and with each note being subtle to see if she remember things like I did.  Who says men don’t pay attention Needless to say I had to get help from a lot of people & businesses.  The second to last rose was with her favorite niece & with her I left a basket full of wedding magazines & the final instruction reading “the FINAL rose will be found at the spot where we had our FIRST kiss”.  Our first kiss happened on Eglinton & Yonge.  Her favorite niece lived in Bradford.

Needless to say, by the time she got there she was absolutely drenched with tears.  I didn’t even have to ask .  She stepped out of the car & yelled YES!

So there you have it…a Cole’s notes version of my proposal.
