We were working on renovations. Our home was completely gutted and all our money was going back into making it the way we wanted. We’d been living together and doing the Reno for over a year at that point. I was waiting for him to ask me to marry him, but I was getting impatient. One night as we fell into bed after a day spent putting up drywall in the blazing heat, I asked him, “Do you want to get married?” He actually started laughing and when he finally stopped, he asked, “Really?” I said, “Yes, really. Well do you?” He replied, “Okay” and that was it. Two weeks later we eloped. It might not have been the most romantic proposal but it worked for us. Turns out he was waiting to ask until he had money to do a nice wedding for me. I told him it didn’t matter to me, I just wanted us to get married. I have pictures of our day.
